Ceramic Tiling Course
This hands-on 4 week Tiling Course is aimed at saving you money, before, during and years after the completion of your project by giving you the skills and knowledge to effectively complete your own wall or floor tiling in your new or renovated home. This course will also prepare you to deal with all the difficulties you may come across during your project.
This course includes a comprehensive Ceramic Tiling Manual
Course overview:
- Introduction to Tiling
Types of tiles, grading tiles, water absorption of tiles, slip resistance ratings, selecting tiles for specific areas, handling and cutting tiles. Learn how to repair damaged render, waterproof and repair damaged tiles. You will also get helpful advice in choosing tiles to avoid future problems. - Fixing Tiles to Walls
Setting out on walls, working processes, requirements, preparation, fixing material and laying tiles to walls. - Flooring Tiles
Setting out for floors, patterns, floor preparation, fixing systems and laying procedures. - Grouting
Preparing tiles for grouting, types of grouts, mixing grouts, application and finishing. - Mosaic Tiles
Learn how to lay glass mosaics.
The following are some of the tools you may be required to bring during the course. More information will be provided on exactly what you need during the first lesson.
- Straight Tile Nippers
- Comb Trowel
- Gauging Trowel
- Small Mitre Square (solid fixed not sliding)
- Level - 400mm and / or 600mm
- 300mm Manual Tile Cutter (Sigma is recommended)
- Tape Measure (metric only)
- Knee Pads
- Safety Glasses
- Work Gloves
- Pencil
- Work Boots (preferably steel caps)
