Course overview:

Client Analysis - What do you want from your garden? A nice area where you can relax? You will be shown some examples that you may wish to transform your garden into, or you can use your own imagination!

Site Inventory/Analysis - What have you got in your garden right now? Do you have any plants or trees or have you just built a new home and are starting from scratch?

Site Survey - You will learn how to measure up your garden while drawing a base plan. This allows you to sketch out where you would like water features, plants and paths in your garden. Also included is producing a bubble plan for your garden designs.

Design Principles - Garden designing is not magic, it is based on tried and tested rules. You will learn basic drafting skills to help prepare your landscape and concept plan.

Hard Landscaping - As its name suggests, this is providing the garden with walls, fences, paving, steps, overhead structures, water features, swimming pools, BBQs and any other heavy, hard object you may want in your garden!

Soft Landscaping - This includes finding the right plants for your garden as well as soil preparation, mulching, growing lawn and planting trees in the correct positions. You will also be taught how to space plants out in even groups.

Course Presenter - Lisa Passmore
Lisa is a third generation Horticulturist and holds a diploma of Horticulture and Landscape Design. Passionate about plants, landscaping and the environment, Lisa is often called upon to give talks to garden groups and associations.

In 2003 Lisa presented several segments on Perth's Channel Nine 'Gardening WA' TV show, an experience that Lisa thoroughly enjoyed. Lisa has also been interviewed by Don Burke on Burke's Backyard for one of her highly acclaimed water-wise garden designs.
